Charts and badges
Every category and subcategory on AppsXi has its own charts, recomputed every hour:
| Chart | Window | What ranks |
|---|---|---|
| Top Paid | Last 7 days | Verified paid sales, unique buyers, revenue, rating |
| Top Free | Last 7 days | Store downloads of free indie apps, rating |
| Rising | This week vs last week | Apps first published in the last 60 days, by growth |
| Top Free (Open Source) | Last 7 days | Open source shelf apps, kept apart from indie apps |
| Top Grossing | Last 30 days | Revenue after refunds (never shown) |
| Top Rated | All time | Bayesian average of verified reviews, 5 or more |
| All Time | Since launch | Verified paid sales |
The full formula, the weights and the exclusions are published at /top/methodology. In short:
- Only paid licenses from completed orders count. Free grants (100% off codes), trials, sandbox orders and test licenses never count.
- Your own purchases and your team's never count. Orders refunded within 14 days and disputed orders are removed.
- A sale below half the list price counts as half a sale, and so does a first purchase from an account less than a day old.
- In-app update downloads never count toward Top Free. Each visitor counts once per app per day.
- Retention (10% of Top Paid) is the share of opt-in AppsXi Desktop installs where the app was opened again a week or more after install. Apps with fewer than 20 such installs get the average, so new apps are not penalized.
- Apps hidden for a human check (Approved: Limited) are not ranked until a person confirms them.
- Manipulation, including fake or incentivized reviews, removes the app from every chart for 90 days.
Your rankings
Open Apps > your app > Leaderboard in the developer dashboard. It shows your current rank on each chart, overall and in your category and subcategory, your best rank, and a 30 day trend.
Badge
Each live app has a badge that shows its best current top 10 placement, for example #1 in Top Paid · Menu Bar Utilities, and says Verified on AppsXi otherwise. It updates by itself.
[](https://appsxi.com/apps/<slug>)<a href="https://appsxi.com/apps/<slug>"><img src="https://appsxi.com/apps/<slug>/badge.svg" alt="My App on AppsXi" height="20"></a>For a website there are two larger styles: ?style=card (60px tall, with the chart and the window) and ?style=compact (40px tall, one line). They follow the visitor's light or dark mode; add &theme=light or &theme=dark to fix the colors.
<a href="https://appsxi.com/apps/<slug>"><img src="https://appsxi.com/apps/<slug>/badge.svg?style=card" alt="My App on AppsXi" height="60"></a>The badge is cached for an hour, the same as the charts.
Social card
https://appsxi.com/apps/<slug>/rank-card is a 1200 × 630 PNG for posts: your rank, the chart, the category and the window. Without a top 10 placement it is a plain "Get it on AppsXi" card. Add ?theme=dark for the dark version.
