AppsXi Desktop
Your AppsXi library on your computer: one click to install, and updates that arrive by themselves for apps that do not update on their own.
Mac
Downloads open with the public launch.
Windows
Downloads open with the public launch.
Meanwhile every app installs from its page as usual.
What it does
- Shows every app you own on AppsXi, and the free apps you installed with it.
- Installs the right file for your computer (Apple silicon or Intel, Windows) and checks it before anything runs: the SHA-256 must match the file AppsXi checked, and the signature must come from the developer AppsXi has on record.
- Checks compatibility before you install: macOS or Windows version, processor (and whether an Intel app runs through Rosetta), memory and free disk space. Apps that cannot run are marked before you download anything.
- Activates apps without license keys. Apps that use Sign in with AppsXi are signed in for you the first time you open them; for apps that still use a key, Desktop copies it to the clipboard.
- Updates apps that have no updater of their own, when they are not running. Apps with their own updater keep using it.
- Moves apps to the Trash (Mac) when you remove them.
Usage sharing is off unless you turn it on
In Settings, “Share anonymous app usage” helps rank apps by whether people keep using them (the retention part of Top Paid). When it is on, Desktop sends once a day the day each app was installed and the days it was opened. Nothing about what you do inside apps, no file names, no hardware details. AppsXi stores one yes or no per app (“opened again a week after install”) under an ID that is not your account. Turning it off deletes what was sent.
Signing in
AppsXi Desktop shows a code and opens appsxi.com/desktop/link in your browser, where you approve it. Your password never goes through the app. You can sign a computer out at any time from your library.
Install from the store
With AppsXi Desktop installed, the “Install with AppsXi Desktop” link on an app's page opens it in the app (appxi://install/<app>).
