For developers

Sell your Mac and Windows apps on AppsXi

A desktop app store outside Apple's and Microsoft's. You keep your own signing identity. AppsXi checks every file, hosts it, takes payment through your own Square account, issues licenses and serves updates. Listing a free app costs nothing, and selling is opening to independent developers soon.

Why list here

  • A 5% fee, paid into your Square

AppsXi's fee is 5% of what the buyer pays before tax. Buyers pay through your own Square account, so AppsXi never holds your money.

  • Your signature, untouched

The file buyers download is the one you uploaded: never rebuilt, repackaged or re-signed. Your Developer ID or Authenticode certificate is what they see.

  • Checked in under an hour

Every build gets the same checks, usually in under an hour, and every finding comes with a fix. Run them yourself first with npx appxi check.

  • Updates in five minutes

Point Sparkle, WinSparkle, electron-updater or App Installer at your AppsXi feed. Approved builds reach installed copies within five minutes, and a bad release can be rolled back.

  • Licensing built in

Level 0 needs no code: AppsXi checks the purchase at download. Level 1 validates keys and gives your app a signed token it can check offline. Have your own license server? Use the license bridge.

  • Price it your way

Free, freemium, a free trial, a fixed price or pay what you want, always paid once. Trials never take a card, so buyers have nothing to cancel.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Set up your account

Sign in, open Developer, add a passkey and connect Square. Add your Apple Team ID or Windows certificate subject and a support email.

  2. Step 2

    Package your app

Ship the same signed installer you would put on your website. Audio plugins and anything installed outside Applications go in a signed .pkg.

  3. Step 3

    List and upload

Create the listing (name, category, screenshots, price, trial), then upload from the dashboard, the CLI or GitHub Actions.

  4. Step 4

    Ship updates

Each approved build goes out through your update feed. Launch Day, the charts and README badges help people find you.

Open source maintainers

Your project may already be on the Open Source Shelf, listed from your official releases with full credit and a link to the exact source. You can claim the listing or ask us to remove it at any time, and add your chart badge to your README (charts and badges).

Built for AI coding tools

The docs are plain text at /llms.txt. Connect your assistant to the AppsXi MCP server and ask it to make your app AppsXi ready (MCP and AI tools).

Questions

How much does AppsXi charge?

5% of what the buyer pays before tax, on every sale. Square's card processing fee is separate. Free apps pay nothing. See Pricing, sales and bundles.

How do I get paid?

Buyers pay through your own Square account, so the money is yours at the moment of sale. AppsXi takes its fee from each sale; it never holds your payouts.

What do my builds need?

On Mac, a .dmg, .pkg or .zip signed with a Developer ID and notarized, with the ticket stapled. On Windows, an .msix, .msi, .exe or .zip Authenticode signed by a trusted certificate. See the package standard.

Can I sell subscriptions?

No. Every purchase is paid once. You can offer free, freemium, a free trial, a fixed price or pay what you want, plus commercial, team and education licenses.

Does AppsXi change my app?

Never. AppsXi lists the exact file you upload. It does not rebuild, repackage or re-sign it, so the signature always names you.
