TagSpaces is an offline, open source, document manager with tagging support
TagSpaces is a free and open-source platform for organizing, tagging, and managing your local files. It runs completely offline, with no need for cloud services, internet connection, or vendor lock-in. Available for Windows, Linux, and macOS, it also includes a browser extension (opens in a new tab) (Web Clipper) for Firefox, Edge, and Chrome to capture online content as local files.
Install the following tools:
The desktop version of the application runs a separate worker process, responsible for search index creation and for generating thumbnails for most image formats.
No setup is needed. The worker is started as an Electron utilityProcess and the application talks to it over that process's message port (see src/main/wsClient.ts), so it opens no network port and needs no key or .env file. Each running instance only ever talks to its own worker.
npm run dev
This will start a development server in background, which watches for changes in background and refreshes the application automatically once you have done some changes in the source code.
