Finder thumbnails, Quick Look previews, and Get Info metadata for most audio and video file types
QuickLook Video adds Finder thumbnails, Quick Look previews, and metadata in Finder's Get Info window for most types of audio and video files. macOS natively understands only a limited number of media files, mostly MPEG codecs within ISO file formats.
This app extends that support to a wide range of other formats and codecs, including Matroska, WebM, AVI, Windows Media, and Flash Video files, and codecs such as VP9, AV1, HEVC, and Theora. It works through a Spotlight extension and two Media Extensions that add non-native file formats and video codecs to AVFoundation.
